Insurance Claims Fraud Consultant Fred Harrison
on Insurance Bad Faith
As an insurance claims fraud consultant, I intimately understand insurance bad faith practices. I hope the following information will prove useful to those of you who are dealing with Wyoming insurance fraud and bad faith.
The American Association of Justice (AAJ) recently issued a report entitled "The Ten Worst Insurance Companies in America". In this publication, they expose the ten worst insurance companies known for denying claims.
Here they are, with the worst listed as No. 1:
- Allstate
- UNUM
- AIG
- State Farm
- Conseco
- WellPoint
- Farmers
- United Health
- Torchmark
- Liberty Mutual
As an insurance claims fraud consultant, I know the inside story on the insurance industry's bad faith practices. I began my practice defending Wyoming insurance companies.
During this time, the insurance industry radically changed its ways and attitudes, resulting in many companies cheating their own insureds. As a result, I chose to stop representing insurance companies and to protect the citizens that have become their victims.
Insurance companies use many maneuvers to avoid paying claims. These tactics include
- Discriminating against policyholders
- Using language that confuses customers
- Manipulating computerized data to arrive at claim payments that are lower than they should be
- Reprimanding employees for paying out too much in claims
- Monitoring which plaintiffs' attorneys will or will not agree to settle cases without much of a fight.
What Can You Do About It?
The good news is that you, as a policy holder, can fight back. If you plan to act without the help of an insurance claims fraud consultant, here are some things you can do on your own:
- Don't hurry through reading your policy. Take the time to learn precisely what is covered. If your insurance company denies a claim, know what you must do to appeal.
- Fill out insurance forms with care. Insurance companies will often capitalize on honest mistakes, as a way to deny or delay your claim.
- Handle all correspondence in writing. You cannot prove anything that was said over the phone by your insurance representative.
- Keep all receipts, correspondence, bills and other records organized in a safe place.
- If you need help, the Wyoming state insurance department may be able to assist you, unless it is a private matter. If they cannot help, you should consult with an experienced bad faith insurance attorney.
- Never give up. Giving up is what the insurance companies bet on when they use tactics to deny, delay and confuse you.
People purchase insurance to protect their property, their health, their business, and their lives. If an insurance company balks or refuses to pay a legitimate claim, an insurance bad faith lawyer will help you get the coverage you've paid for and deserve.
If your are dealing with any bad faith issues with your insurance provider, as your attorney I can act as your insurance consultant and legal counsel. With extensive experience and knowledge about both sides of the playing field, I am a strong ally in the fight against insurance company fraud.
